License
Chatvia is free to use under the Chatvia license. You can read the full text on GitHub: LICENSE.
This page explains the license in simple words. If this page and the license text ever disagree, the license text wins.
What you may do
The license is based on the MIT license, one of the most open licenses there is. You may, for free:
- Use Chatvia for your own company, with your own customers.
- Read and change the code.
- Copy it, share it, and sell copies of it.
- Run as many installs as you like.
Anyone who gets Chatvia from you gets it under the same license. Keep the copyright notice and the license text with every copy.
What you agree to
The license adds four conditions to the MIT license. A license key lifts some of them.
1. Keep the credit
Every chat that Chatvia draws for your visitors shows a small "Powered by ChatVia.ai" line, linked to chatvia.ai. This covers the hosted chat, the chat widget and the command bar.
Do not remove, hide or change this line, in the code, the styles or the settings. To hide it, buy a license key and turn it off on the License page of the admin panel.
Messaging apps (such as Slack or WhatsApp) and the API do not show the line, because Chatvia does not draw the chat there.
2. Enterprise features need an Enterprise key
Four features work only while the install has an active Enterprise or SaaS key: sending security events to a SIEM, the IP allowlist and country rules, audit-log export, and custom data retention. See what Enterprise unlocks.
3. Pro features need a key
Without a key, an install has one workspace. Agents, teams and replies have no limit. The API, voice, Live Chat, capabilities, custom domains, the splitting options and the Sentiment, Tone, Topics and Sources analytics are off. See what needs a key.
4. Selling Chatvia as a service needs a SaaS key
You may not run Chatvia for other people or companies as a hosted service (they use your install instead of running their own) without a SaaS key. See what SaaS adds.
Using Chatvia for your own company is not a hosted service, even when your customers chat with your agents.
For conditions 2, 3 and 4: do not change the code to get around them. That breaks the license.
If you break a condition
Your right to use Chatvia ends. You get it back if you fix the problem within 30 days of learning about it. For example, show the credit again, go back to one workspace, or buy a license key.
