Installation

What the install sends out

Get in touch: Ahmad Mayahi, creator of Chatvia, Spectra and Shakomako

ChatVia.ai runs on your server and keeps your data there. It talks to the outside only for what you set up (AI providers, e-mail, social sign-in, messaging channels, web crawling) and for these:

  • Update check. Once a day the admin panel reads the list of releases from the repository on GitHub, to tell you when a newer version is out. Nothing about your install is sent. Switch it off in Settings → Platform.
  • License check. With a license key, once a day the install sends the key's id and its own domain to chatvia.ai, to see whether the key is still valid. An install without a key sends nothing.
  • Installer and ./manage. When they check whether your domain points at this server, or suggest the address for HTTPS on an IP address, they ask api.ipify.org for the server's public address. The installer also offers to count your install (the install kind and the operating system) and to add your e-mail to the newsletter; both are off unless you say yes.
